Tips for using Meditation for Healing

Healing is practiced in every corner of our earth. There is no ‘work’ involved, nothing to buy, drink, consume or trouble yourself with. Meditating is for yourself, by yourself and exclusively beneficial for yourself. Because it’s something that gets better and better with practice, you’ll find yourself desiring this simple method of self-reconciling throughout your life.

If you listen to yourself, you will hear yourself – listen to your inner voice – we all have one.

To get a better idea, you scratch the surface of meditating whenever you find yourself taking a deep breath, closing your eyes before producing a thought and especially when you lay down – although once a distraction is produced – all hope of meditating is driven away.

Meditation can bring you to closer understandings of yourself, your life and your inner thoughts. People from all over the world practice meditation – no particular type of person is better at it than another. The practice of meditation is all that is left when you put aside all other outside unnatural distractions. As individuals, taking the time to heal ourselves can be the most natural benefit to our lives.

Everyone lives on a day-to-day basis – always in motion and action with constant decision-making – and almost never in a good, natural solitude. When the time comes for us to relax (because we know we need to), we often look to some lesser form of the same stimulations that are offered. Understand first that true relaxation is achieved when you free yourself from tensions and anxieties. Never mislabel a store-bought remedy, weekend getaway, or any other outside stimulant for a reliever of stress or tension. Although you may experience mild levels of peace and solitude with these “calmers” – what you now understand is that complete healing and focus is achieved from within yourself.

Less is more, you get a lot from a little – and the best things in life are free. Put aside all external ‘sensationalism’ – the things that are marketed to take the place of what you already have inside of you – but may not have discovered and used. It is because of these things that you have been guided to look towards external distractions to satisfy the desires that come from the inside anyway – peace, calm, understanding, and relaxation. Meditation is the universally understood method for looking inwards on our self and simply listening. Through meditation, you can scatter your thoughts and begin to dissolve away all the unwanted concerns. This action leaves you to yourself.

If you like chanting, there are several healing mala mantras you can use with japa meditation:

Om is regarded to as the song of the universe. It’s probably the most potent mantra available to us because it contains the most powerful vibration

So Hum translates to “I am that.” It’s another mantra that’s excellent for beginners because you can connect it to your breath. On your inhale, think the sound, "So"; and on your exhale, think the sound, "Hum."

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti is a great mantra to end a practice with or chant by itself. Shanti translates to peace of mind, peace of body, and peace of speech.

Lokah Samastah Sukinoh Bhavantu is a Sanskrit chant arises out of the Vedas, and is translated as, “May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”

Om Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya Tamaso Maa Jyotir-Gamaya Mrtyor-Maa Amrtam Gamaya Om Shanti Shanti Shanti This powerful healing mantra translates to: Lead me from the unreal to the real Lead from the darkness to the light Lead me from death to immortality Let there be peace, peace, peace

The process puts you in tune with yourself, gives you clarity of mind and best of all – provides the all-important opportunity of receiving new and unrealized thoughts and comforts. As a completely free method of satisfying one's inner needs throughout all their life, the practice of meditation isn’t found in your shopping mall or local shelves. You would be wrong to think that it is uncommon amongst the world populations as well – but that is just the opposite. There are people all around the world, every day, turning inwards on themselves for the discovery of strength and inner resolve. Meditation is something you do for the good of yourself and by yourself.
